WinwadStatus: version 2.0 in coding and testingWinwad used to be hosted on the Frag Network, however, their servers went down a while ago and it looks as though Winwad and many other projects will not be hosted again when the servers come back online. In the meantime, I bought my own domain name so Winwad can always be found at this site. Version 1.01 is complete, although it has a few pesky bugs. After sitting around for four years, I decided to resurrect Winwad and give it a thorough overhaul. As of December 2003 I am working on version 2.0 which should fix all known bugs and improve performance by two or three times. Winwad version 1.01 is the latest released version. You may download the Windows binaries, which should work on any 32 bit version of Windows, although Windows 95 may have trouble running it. The source code is written in C++ using the Win32 API, not MFC. It is straight C for the most part but it does use some C++ classes. Winwad is released under the GNU General Public License. The short version of the license states that this is free, open software. I, John Gaughan, own the copyright to the code, but you may copy and distribute it freely provided you adhere to the GNU GPL license. You may create derivative works based on Winwad, but they must also be licensed under the GNU GPL. Once I get Winwad working the way I want it, I will start on the Linux version. I will probably keep the same name, since Linux also runs windows... X-windows, that is. Right now it looks like I will use qt for the GUI toolkit, but not any Gnome or KDE specific libraries or extensions. I figure even die-hard KDE-hating Gnome fans should still have qt installed :-) Readme / LicenseDownload Version 1.01Win32 binaries: HTTP - FTP - 30 kb |
